Painting the Roses Red
I am going to write about my period. You have been warned.
So for the last however many months (6? 8? more?), I've been getting my period every 3 weeks (approx. 21-23 days) instead of every 4 weeks. Meaning I'm on the rag way more than I should be. But at least it was regular, even it was happening too often. This month I haven't even gotten my period. Even if my body had moved back to a 4-week schedule, it would STILL be almost a week late. WTF is going on with me? I keep expecting it to come, and then it doesn't. I guess 2 weeks ago when I was feeling like a total bitch, it wasn't PMS. It was just me. Damn.
My period makes me feel...oddly comforted. Like I'm being reassured that I'm a woman, and that my body works, and that everything is ok. Not having it feels weird and wrong. I know these things can fluctuate depending on stress and health and all kinds of things, but this is really bugging me.
And no, I'm not pregnant. Ew.

Yikes! Menstruation problems are always whacky and can seriously mess you up. I hope yours works out okay. My doctor recc'd to me to start being hyper vigilant about counting out the days it's supposed to come, take fish oil supplements and women's vitamins, and to take note of the moon phases. I don't know why it worked for me, but it did/does. 28-35 days all the time without being on the pill and usually...it's day 28. I hope it works itself out for you and you're back to some kind of normal soon!
@teefahknee - Hm. I take a women's multi-vitamin daily, and fish oil capsules periodically, and I track my cycle in my phone (there's an app for that, of course). I also keep an eye on the moon cycles (cuz there's an app for that too!). Maybe it's just stress messing me up this time.
@shelly100 - well I'm not a doctor (but I did stay at holiday inn last night!
kidding. couldn't resist), but that's what mine told me. I still have hiccups, but I couldn't stand being on the pill (and it's not a real period anyway as there is no ovulation) and I've noticed when I'm hypervigilant about tracking it, it seems to come on time as expected. I really need to get a smart phone...out of the cave and into the future! Those apps make it sound like a lot easier to track!
Hope the stress goes away. I'm finding gray hairs again (I've gotten them off and on since 16). Ugh!
@teefahknee - I highly recommend the Motorola Droid. I got it right after Christmas (remember when I was sick for like 3 MONTHS at the beginning of this year?) and it kept me sane. Now I don't know what I would do without it.
